About Us
Twenty-five years ago, a group of dedicated parents asked, “What opportunities are there for our children with special needs as they become adults? What will their quality of life look like?” With these questions in mind, they created the Gulf Islands Families Together Society (GIFTS). Incorporated under the Society Act in 1999, GIFTS has since grown into a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering a sense of belonging for individuals with diverse abilities.

Unlike traditional program-based approaches, GIFTS ensures that participants and their families retain full control over their personal support structures, fostering independence, dignity, and self-determination.

"Our mission is rooted in strength-based approaches that empower individuals and families to have a strong voice and to advocate for an equitable quality of life.” - Amanda Myers, ED

Participants
GIFTS offers the most innovative, participant-driven approach to support in British Columbia.

Employment
GIFTS connects people with diverse abilities to meaningful employment opportunities through our partnership with Choices Clothing Store and other local businesses, and through our "GIFTS Boxes" program.

Inclusive Workplace Training
GIFTS offers specialized employee training programs for employers dedicated to supporting people with diverse abilities. Offered through Salt Spring Island PARC, and privately.
